Stratford Pillbox and Anti-Tank Blocks

East London

Property Description

Whilst working in the area, I decided to go on a walk and stumbled across this purely by chance. Just a few minutes walk away from the Olympic Stadium, this Second World War pillbox was built around 1940 and forms what would have been part of the outer London defence ring – one of the first lines of defence for attacking inner London. Hopefully though, the pillbox would never have had to be used operationally as the defences in Kent and Essex should have prevented the Germans from getting close to London.
